FINANCIAL LITERACY

  • For Global Money Week, United Way Greater Nigeria partnered with Financial Fairy Tales, Page Financials, Dyslexia Nigeria and Verod Foundation to teach basic financial concepts and skills to children at St Gregory’s Boys & Girl’s School located in the Ikoyi/Obalande local government.
  • Students were paired with Volunteer Readers who read the story of the ‘The Magic Magpie’ which taught earning, sharing, spending, saving and the importance of honest work. This not only promoted a culture of reading in the students but also provided them with professionals that they can aspire to be.
  • Over 290 children were taught and 48 volunteers and teachers were equipped with the tools and strategy to teach financial literacy to the students through the use of this same story.
