WORKPLACE SAFETY POLICY
POLICIES PROCEDURES
This policy describes workplace policies that apply to everyone at United Way Greater Nigeria
Community Initiative (UWGN): employees, contractors, volunteers, vendors and stakeholders alike. These policies help us build a productive, lawful and pleasant workplace.
VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct aims to ensure that all volunteers of United Way Greater Nigeria
Community Initiative (‘UWGN’ or the ‘Organization’) understand the standard of conduct
required to participate in UWGN programs and representing the Organization as a volunteer.
UWGN Volunteers are expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct at all times when associating
with the Organization and carrying out their duties and interactions.
TRUSTEES CODE OF ETHICS
The Trustees of United Way Greater Nigeria Community Initiative (‘UWGN’ or the
‘Organization’) believe that ethical behavior fosters development and growth in the
organization’s internal operations which positively impacts charitable projects undertaken by
UWGN staffs and volunteers. The diligence, transparency and fairness applied by UWGN
Trustees increases the philanthropic support of the host community, donors and volunteers.
UWGN Trustees are to continually recognize and appreciate their responsibility to formulate
ethical policies and strategies, execute charitable projects and programs and generate
philanthropic support for the organization.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY
POLICY STATEMENT
United Way Greater Nigeria Community Initiative (‘UWGN’ or the ‘Organization’) is committed
to providing a safe environment for all its employees free from discrimination on any ground and
harassment at work including sexual harassment. UWGN will operate a zero-tolerance policy for
any form of sexual harassment in the workplace, treat all incidents seriously, and promptly
investigate all allegations of sexual harassment. Any person found to have sexually harassed
another will face disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from employment.
All complaints of sexual harassment will be taken seriously and treated with respect and
confidence. No one will be victimized for making such a complaint.
EMPLOYEE CODE OF CONDUCT AND ETHICS
The public purpose and tax-exempt status of the United Way Greater Nigeria Community
Initiative (‘UWGN’ or the ‘Organization’) includes an obligation to maintain public trust. The
Trustees of UWGN have always taken this obligation very seriously and strives to set an example
for the field of philanthropy in all of its activities. Accordingly, it is incumbent upon employees
of UWGN to conduct the affairs of the organization with a commitment to the highest standards
of integrity. This includes always performing in an honest and ethical manner, in compliance
with all laws and regulations and avoiding actual, potential, or apparent conflicts of interest.
Compliance with this Code of Conduct and Ethics will sustain a culture where honest and ethical
conduct is recognized, valued, and exemplified throughout UWGN. Any UWGN employee who
fails to comply with the Code of Conduct and Ethics will be subject to appropriate disciplinary
action by the Board of Trustees, up to and including immediate termination of employment.
When in doubt about whether certain actions may potentially violate the Code of Conduct and
Ethics or other UWGN policies or procedures, employees must contact the Company Secretary
to the UWGN Board of Trustees for guidance.
ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING POLICY STATEMENT
United Way Greater Nigeria Community Initiative (UWGN or the ‘charity’) takes its responsibility for
ensuring the establishment and maintenance of systems of internal control for the prevention and
detection of fraud, irregularities, and corruption as non-negotiable and will not tolerate fraud,
corruption, or abuse of position for personal or institutional gain. It is therefore the policy of UWGN
to comply fully with applicable provisions of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act
202 and all related and amending legislation.
