United Way Greater Nigeria (UWGN) took proactive steps in fostering community well-being during the Day of Action
2021. The organization organized a health-focused initiative in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Retired
People (NARP) and SUNU Health, addressing health concerns and promoting healthy living practices.
UWGN organized health talk sessions at strategic locations, including Ebenezer Praying Band Church in Surulere, Obada
Market in Ikoyi, and Ijeh Market in Ikoyi. These sessions focused on educating older adults about the importance of living
a healthy lifestyle. As part of the health outreach, UWGN provided free medical check-ups for older individuals. This
included basic health assessments and blood pressure checks to identify potential health concerns.
The two-day activity received collaborative support from the Nigerian Association of Retired People (NARP) and SUNU
Health, strengthening the impact of the initiative. In collaboration with its partners, took deliberate steps to sensitize the
older adult community on the importance of living a healthy life. This involved providing information on preventive
measures, lifestyle choices, and practices that contribute to overall well-being.
The health talk sessions and medical check-ups contributed to increased awareness among older adults regarding the
importance of health maintenance, the free medical check-ups enabled the early identification of potential health
concerns, allowing for timely intervention and care.
