NGO, firm launch food drive to combat hunger in Lagos
United Way Greater Nigeria (UWGN), in partnership with Zaron Cosmetics, has launched the Food Drive initiative to tackle food insecurity in vulnerable communities across Lagos State.
The initiative aims to provide essential food to women-led households, particularly widows and the elderly.
‘Education remains the potent instrument for development’
Two groups, United Way Greater Nigeria and Casava Insurance have said that education remains a potent instrument for growth and no child should be left behind.
They commented at the Books/Art Buddies Programme, a collaborative effort between them. The programme was concluded at St. Peters (Faji) Primary School, St. Mary Girls Primary School, and St. Mary Convent Primary School Lagos Island.
The programme was aimed at empowering young children between the ages of four and nine with essential knowledge and skills, while fostering a love for reading and creativity by reaching out to 100 students across the three participating schools.

Group equips Lagos youths with digital skill
150 youths drawn from different communities across Lagos have been equipped with digital skills by United Way Greater Nigeria, in partnership with Rack Centre under the Skill To Employment Programme (STEP).
The graduation ceremony, the organisers said, marked a significant milestone in the lives of 150 youths from Ojota, Oregun, Ikeja, and Ogudu, who completed an intensive eight-week training in graphics design, digital marketing, front end web development, as well as networking and security.
The organisers said the successful participants were not only graduates of the programme, but also secured internship placements in organisations across the state.
UWGN, U.S. Embassy empowers Borno youths
After training 150 youths drawn from different communities across Lagos State, United Way Greater Nigeria (UWGN), in partnership with United States (U.S.) Embassy, Abuja, has announced the successful graduation of the Promoting Inclusive Economic Growth and Development through Sustainable Project (PIE-GDP) Programme in Borno State.
The graduation, held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, marked a significant milestone in fostering sustainable entrepreneurship and economic empowerment in the lives of 100 young people in the one-year project. They were assigned trainers and mentors in their areas of interest.
U.S., UWGN launch PIE-GDP to transform youths in North East
Embassy of the United States of America, Abuja, and United Way Greater Nigeria have launched Promoting Inclusive Economic Growth And Development Through Sustainable Programmes (PIE-GDP) in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.
The move seeks to transform the future of young people between the ages of 15 to 24, in North East, by helping them fulfil their potential in entrepreneurship and employment, thereby, contributing to the nation’s growth and development.
The initiative, which also links them to opportunities for mentorship, internships, and apprenticeships, is improving the knowledge and skills of 100 young people in Maiduguri regarding employment and entrepreneurship.
UWGN, Creative Colony, educates students on transforming trash into art
An NGO, United Way Greater Nigeria (UWGN), in collaboration with Creative Colony, has trained students in Lagos schools on transforming discarded plastics into art.
Ms ‘Deola Durodola, Executive Director, UWGN, at the completion of the three-day initiative on Friday in Lagos, said the project was aimed at promoting recycling and the creative use of waste plastics to create art.
Durodola said that the initiative tagged “Eco Art project” was conducted at Ilupeju Junior Secondary School and Mawumaduka School and Orphanage, Makoko.
